Spearfish Recreation and Aquatic Center

Client: City of Spearfish, SD

The Spearfish Recreation and Aquatic Center was a renovation and addition of a former Wal-Mart building. Renovation included repurposing the interior with community wellness rooms, a suspended walking track, weight rooms, shower facilities, and office space. Exterior improvements included demolition of the parking lot to allow construction of the new outdoor waterpark. The outdoor waterpark included zero-entry pools for toddlers; lazy rivers; a lap pool; and three large slides. Ainsworth-Benning acted as the general contractor and self-performed all concrete, rough carpentry, steel erection, finish carpentry and specialties. The first phase of the project was completed two months ahead of schedule and the second phase was completed on schedule.
